A diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace is key to conducting innovative science. This page describes how we work to uplift one another, both inside and outside the lab, to facilitate a successful, respectful and welcoming lab environment. On the third Friday of every month, a lab member picks a book, article, movie, podcast, etc to discuss a topic that is unrelated to our direct research
Welcome to the Wiita Lab @UCSF! We are an experimental research group in the Dept. of Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Our laboratory is focused on using mass spectrometry-based proteomics to discover new biology and therapeutic targets in hematologic malignancies (blood cancers) and genetic disease.

UCSF Lab Services at Mission Bay performs diagnostic and other laboratory tests for patients receiving care in our hospital and clinics and for our scientific researchers. Your doctor may order specific tests to better understand your condition. UCSF laboratories perform more than 4.2 million tests every year. UC San Francisco is leading revolutions in health – and those revolutions often start in the lab. From basic science to clinical research, we are constantly pushing scientific boundaries and earning worldwide recognition for our discoveries. A key element of UCSF’s research success is its deeply ingrained culture of collaboration. In our lab we study the cancer-specific mechanisms of autophagy-lysosome activation, and how this organellar system contributes to metabolic reprogramming in PDA. We hypothesize that the functional interplay between enhanced cellular trafficking pathways and activation of gene programs that regulate organelle dynamics and function is an essential, previously unrecognized mechanism for tumor
My lab has a particular interest in how the lysosome contributes to cancer pathogenesis with a focus on studying pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA).
